A water pick is sometimes called a water floss. A water pick uses a thin pressured stream of water to clean between teeth. Water picks can be helpful getting to hard to clean places like braces, and bridges clean. There are several benefits to using a water pick like reducing gingivitis, removal of plaque and improve gum health.
To use a Waterpik:
- Fill the water reservoir with water and add any desired mouthwash or dental solution.
- Insert the nozzle tip into the end of the hose and attach it to the device.
- Turn on the device and adjust the water pressure to a comfortable level.
- Place the nozzle tip in your mouth and direct the water stream at your teeth and gums, starting with the back teeth and working your way forward.
- Be sure to use a back and forth motion and pay special attention to areas where you have braces or other dental work.
- After use, turn off the device and detach the nozzle tip to clean it properly.
- It is recommended to use it for 2 minutes twice a day.
